Aaj ka din honestly super stressful tha. I don't know why, but my mind was just not ready to calm down. Baar-baar khud ko bol rahi thi, “Bas, stop thinking… relax kar,” but kuch bhi kaam nahi kar raha tha.
Actually, mai ek movie dekh rahi thi — Mai Vaapas Aaunga. Usme Partition ke time ka ek scene tha, jahan dikhaya gaya tha ki logon ne kitna kuch khoya tha. Partition ki reality hi itni painful thi… but the way women suffered during that time completely broke something inside me.
Unke saath jo hua, woh dekhna mere liye bahot difficult tha. Kuch women itna unbearable pain lekar jee rahi thi ki unhone apni zindagi tak khatam kar li. Meri soul literally tadap gayi woh scene dekh kar. Maine movie ka woh part skip kar diya, but unfortunately ek chhota sa clip meri nazar se guzra… aur woh mere mind mein stuck ho gaya.
Aaj Independence Day tha.
Aur honestly, mai un sab logon ko salute karti hu jo uss waqt iss struggle ka hissa the — chahe woh kisi bhi community, religion ya country se belong karte ho. Woh ek aisa waqt tha jo kisi bhi insaan ko dobara nahi dekhna chahiye.
I salute every freedom fighter who raised their voice, who went to jail, who sacrificed their lives and their families, and who fought so that hum aaj azaadi ki saans le sakein. 🇮🇳
But somewhere, I feel… yeh azaadi aaj bhi adhuri hai. Mere liye true freedom sirf ek country ka independent hona nahi hai.
True freedom woh hogi jis din duniya ka har insaan — chahe woh man ho ya woman — bina darr ke chale, freely breathe kare, apni zindagi apne tareeke se jee sake.
Jis din women ko har jagah safe feel hoga.
Jis din har religion ek dusre ki respect karega.
Jis din hum differences ko lekar ladne ke bajaye ek dusre ko gale lagayenge.
Jis din political leaders sirf politics nahi, balki har aam insaan ke liye genuinely kaam karenge.
I know, India jaisi huge and diverse country ko sambhalna is not easy. There are millions of people, millions of opinions, different religions, cultures and problems.
But difficult doesn't mean impossible.
Mai marne se pehle ek aisi country… aur ek aisi duniya dekhna chahti hu jahan insaan, insaan se mohabbat kare. Jahan competition se zyada cooperation ho.
Jahan ek dusre ko neeche kheenchne ke bajaye, hum ek dusre ka sahara banein. Jahan kisi ki identity uske against use na ho. Jahan kisi woman ko apni safety ke liye apni freedom sacrifice na karni pade. Aur jahan kisi bhi maa ko apne bachche ko nafrat nahi, insaniyat sikhani pade.
I don't know agar mai apni lifetime mein aisi duniya dekh paungi ya nahi… But I will always pray for it. Allah, mujhe woh din dekhna naseeb kare. Ameen. 🤲🏻
Until then, I will keep believing in humanity, keep loving my country, and keep hoping that someday we will understand that freedom is not complete until everyone is free.
